If you found your way here, welcome, truly.

This little corner, this space, this blog, this idea…it has been in my spirit for a while.

And today...randomly, as with most things in my life, I decided to give it life.

This space is for anyone who is…

• just getting back into reading

  
  

• craving more diverse stories

  
  

• tired of seeing the same five books being recommended everywhere

  
  

• needing more Black authors, BIPOC stories, and under-hyped indie gems

  
  

• or looking for 40+ main characters who are full-grown and living their best lives

  
  

If that sounds like you?

Pull up a chair and stay a while, bestie.

I’m Deanna.A 40+ book-loving, hard-working, peace-needing, 92-percenter who is currently on a break...(IYKYK), and minding my Black business.

And during this time?

I am absolutely about these books.

Now hold on... Before you get too comfortable..

Let me tell you what I believe, unapologetically:

• I believe Black stories matter.

  
  

• I believe Black voices are powerful, necessary, and too often unheard.

  
  

• I believe Black authors are every bit as brilliant as their counterparts, even though they don’t always get the hype, love, marketing, or support they deserve.

  
  

• I believe there is a beautiful abundance of Black and diverse stories that the world hasn’t caught onto yet. Stories full of joy, full of love, full of resilience, full of magic, full of culture, full of power, and full of heart.

  
  

And as long as these freshly-done nails (because I will KEEP these nails done) can clickety-clack across a keyboard, I will hype Black authors with my whole chest.

I will promote them

I will celebrate them

I will uplift them

I will love on them.

And I will spread the word to the one or two people who may end up on this blog.

Because they deserve it. And because we deserve to see ourselves in every corner of the literary world.
